Fingerprint Reader Maintenance
On occassion, we recieve calls regarding how to clean
fingerprint readers at our sites. If your restaurant is currently
using the U.are.U Fingerprint Reader, whether standalone or
on a POSIFLEX AIO Unit, here's some quick tips to
save you time, money, and a brief hassle.
| Care of the U.are.U Fingerprint Reader |
| The U.are.U is designed to work reliably with "difficult fingerprints"
that may cause problems with many other brands of fingerprint readers.
Difficult fingerprints can occur with individuals who have dry, worn,
or small fingers. The reader has a think coating of elastomeric plastic
covering the lens of the reader, designed to accentuate difficult-to-read
fingerprints. |
| In order to maintain the life of your reader, please follow
these guidelines: |
- Do not allow users of the reader to pick or scratch the coating
on the window of the reader with fingernails or sharp objects.
(There is no removable plastic surface packaged with the reader
- the window should be left as is.)
- Keep the reader window surface clean, as described below.
|
| How to clean your Fingerprint Reader |
| To capture fingerprint scans, the reader must be clean. Proper cleaning
and maintenance is important to keep up with it's performance. To clean
the reader, apply the sticky side of a piece of scotch tape on the window
then peel it away. This will generally work for most cases where it
has issues reading a print. Sometimes with some kitchen staff, fingers
get greasy, and if the tape doesn't work, we reccomend a damp-dry cloth
and to gently rub the reader. However, don't use a rough surface cloth,
like a brillo pad. |
WARNING
To protect against the risk of damage to the reader:
|
- Do not pour any liquid directly on the reader
- Never rub the window with an abrasive material, including PAPER.
- Do not poke or scratch the window coating with a fingernail, or
a pen.
